He has an impressive career in banking and finance, having started with the Ministry of Finance and National Economy.   Prior to assuming the post of Chief Executive at Shamil Bank, Mr. Hussain served in a number of senior positions within the Bank, including Deputy Chief Executive, Group Head, Corporate Banking and General Manager, Islamic Investment Company of the Gulf, Shamil Bank’s precursor.

Previously, Mr. Hussain was Senior Vice President, Smith Barney Inc. Bahrain; Director Marketing & Corporate Finance, Bahrain International Bank; and Assistant Vice President, Gulf International Bank.

He also sits on the Board of a number of financial institutions, including the Housing Bank, Bahrain, Meezan Bank, Pakistan, Emerging Market Partnership, Bahrain and Shamil Bank of Yemen & Bahrain.

Mr. Hussain has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Aleppo, Syria.
